In case you didn’t know, a Maknae is basically the youngest member of a Kpop group. But what is so special about the youngest member and why is there a special term for them? We will look into this and make sure that you understand the whole concept. This will add a lot of wisdom and insights to your next conservation about Kpop.

What does maknae mean?

What maknae means can be easily summed up in one short sentence. A maknae is the youngest member of a Kpop group. It is that simple. But there is more to it than you might think.

Suzy (Miss A)

She is the Miss A Maknae but even if she is the youngest member of the group, she doesn’t mind the huge stage. You can see that during her concerts and performances, but also in the video below, where she throughs the opening pitch at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Minzy (2NE1)

She is the 2NE1 Maknae and even if some of her group members overshadow her from time to time, you can expect big things from her in the future. Look out  for her solo career, now that she has the time for it. Watch the video below to get an idea about how special this Kpop idol is.

Subin (Dal Shabet)

Seohyun (SNSD)

She is the SNSD Maknae. There is a lot to say about Girls Generation, their music and their looks. But Seohyun is definitely one of my favourite members. I think she can do it all. Kwon So Hyun (4Minute)

She is the 4Minute maknae and you should look out for her, because she is an incredible dancer. But that is not everything you should know about her. 2. A short Twice band history

The story of Twice is indeed rather short, so far. But i will list the most important mile stones for now and add new stuff, whenever something big happens.

  • JYP announced a new Kpop girl group in the end of 2013.
  • It took almost two years, until the girls would have their debut.

2. A Short Apink Band History

  • The band released their first EP and their first video in April 2011.
  • A reality show in cooperation with Infinite was recorded in the end of 2011.
  • Apink released their second EP in November 2011.
